Technology is changing the library system in a rapid way. I found the Away from the “icebergs” article very informative. It states that there was a 55 percent drop in circulation in the past 12 years. That is very disturbing to me. Print collection is being phased out rapidly. The library must adapt to fundamental changes to survive. Marketing library service and training patrons will have to become a important service of the current libraries.
I think there are still quite a few patrons who enjoy coming to the library and browsing the shelves. Hopefully, that will not become a thing of the past in too short of time.
